GM Slips, Toyota Closes the Gap

GM's third quarter closed down five and a half percent, and the number hiding inside it is worse: Equinox EV sales fell over ninety percent. Toyota moved the other way, up eight percent in September, and Automotive News puts the two automakers within about one hundred thirty-six thousand units of each other for the quarter. Today's episode tracks what that split looks like on the ground, from a fifty-seven thousand unit inventory build at GM stores to Edmunds finding that financed amounts, payments and loan terms all hit new highs in the same quarter. A Senate bill on connected vehicle security moves forward, and a downtown Los Angeles buy-sell closes. None of it says which way October goes, but the inputs are on the table.
